What services do you offer?
We provide professional ear wax removal home visits across Teesside, using gentle microsuction only.
We do not offer hearing tests. Our focus is safe, effective wax removal in the comfort of your own home.
How long does the appointment take?
A home visit usually takes around 30 minutes. This includes a quick ear health check, the microsuction procedure
and simple aftercare advice.
How many appointments does ear wax removal take?
In most cases we can clear the ear wax in one visit. Occasionally the shape of the ear or very firm wax means
a second appointment is needed. If that is the case we will explain everything clearly and arrange a follow up.
To give yourself the best chance of a one session clear out, please use Earol two sprays in each ear morning
and night for 3 days before your appointment. Softened wax removes more easily and comfortably.
Do I need to use ear drops before my appointment?
Yes, ear drops are essential for a safe and successful appointment. We recommend Earol olive oil spray,
two sprays in each ear morning and night for 3 days before your visit. This softens the wax and makes
removal quicker, safer and more comfortable.
I have been using the oil and my ears feel worse. Why is that?
This is very common and completely normal. As the oil softens the wax it can move and sit in a different position,
sometimes blocking the ear more and trapping oil behind it. Your hearing can feel worse for a short time.
The good news is that this usually means the wax is now soft enough to remove easily. Please keep going with the drops
as advised and we will take care of the rest at your appointment.
What method of ear wax removal do you use?
We use microsuction only. This is a dry procedure that uses a gentle suction device to remove wax.
It is widely regarded as a safe, clean and effective method, especially for sensitive ears. We do not use irrigation
or ear syringing.
What is the difference between microsuction and ear syringing?
Microsuction uses a small suction device to gently remove wax. The ear canal stays dry and the practitioner
can see exactly what they are doing throughout the procedure.
Ear syringing involves flushing the ear with water. Some people find this messy or uncomfortable.
Microsuction is generally considered safer, more controlled and more comfortable.
Is ear wax removal painful?
Most people find microsuction comfortable and pain free. You might feel a light pulling sensation or notice
that the device sounds a little loud in your ear, but this is normal. If you are nervous or sensitive to sound,
please tell us and we will talk you through every step and work at your pace.
Are there any side effects from ear wax removal?
Side effects are rare. A small number of people feel slightly dizzy for a short time after the procedure but this
usually passes quickly. If you ever feel unsure after your appointment, please contact us and we will be happy to advise.
Will ear wax removal improve my hearing?
Ear wax build up can block sound and make everything feel muffled. Once the wax is removed many people notice an
immediate improvement in how clearly they hear, especially in conversation and when watching television.
Results vary from person to person but clearer hearing is very common.
How do I know if I need ear wax removal?
Common signs of ear wax build up include:
- Muffled or reduced hearing
- A feeling of fullness, pressure or blockage in the ear
- Itching, crackling or discomfort
- Tinnitus or ringing sounds
- Feeling blocked after swimming or showering
If you notice any of these symptoms it may be time for a check up.
How often should I have my ears cleaned?
Everyone is different. Some people naturally produce more wax and benefit from a clean every 6 to 12 months,
while others may go much longer without any issues. If you are unsure how often you should be seen, we are happy
to give personalised advice.

No, we are not insured to treat anyone under the age of 18.

Yes, we can provide ear wax removal for offices and workplace groups.

enough time for everyone who needs to be seen.
Do you visit care homes?
Yes, we specialise in care home visits and are very experienced in these settings. We can see individual
residents or arrange group clinics depending on what works best for the home.
How does the “No Wax, No Fee” policy work for group appointments?
For group bookings such as offices or care homes:
- Anyone who has wax removed pays the standard price.
- Anyone who has no wax pays no fee.
This keeps pricing simple and fair for everyone involved.
Can you remove ear wax from just one ear?
Yes, we can treat one ear, both ears or simply assess things if you are not sure where the problem is.
